The switchboard is the number that catches people out. Older Wynnum properties — anything pre-2010 — often need a board upgrade before they can land even one 7kW charger. Budget $1,500–$8,500 for that depending on the board size, and add 3–8 weeks for any Energex co-ordination.

Three-phase 22kW chargers make sense in Bayside Brisbane when the property already has three-phase supply (most post-2010 commercial sites and many newer Wynnum/Manly homes do) and the vehicle accepts 22kW AC (Tesla Model 3/Y, Polestar 2, Audi e-tron GT).
