The Schneider EVlink Pro DC 24kW Wall-Mount is a 24 kW DC 3-phase input EV charger built for commercial fleets, dealership service bays and mid-tier public sites wanting fast DC charging without the cost and grid demand of a 60kW+ unit. Hexar Solutions installs the full Schneider EV range across Brisbane and surrounding suburbs, from residential single-phase setups in Wynnum and Manly through to multi-charger commercial rollouts like the recent BMW Motorline dealership job in Brisbane.

Guide price installed: from $48,000 inc GST

From $48,000 inc GST for a straightforward install: charger supply, mounting, wiring run up to about 10 metres from the switchboard, dedicated circuit with correct RCD protection, commissioning and Form 17. Sites with longer runs, switchboard upgrades, trenching, load management gear or multi-charger setups land higher. This is a guide price for budgeting, not a fixed quote. We confirm scope and cost after a site assessment.

How a Hexar install runs

Step 1: Site assessment and load calculation

We come out, look at the switchboard, check existing load, confirm the proposed charger location and cable run. For commercial sites we run a maximum demand calculation per AS/NZS 3000:2018 Section 2.2. If the supply can’t sustain the new load, we identify whether it’s a board upgrade or an Energex connection application before any equipment ships.

Step 2: Install day

Charger mounted to spec, dedicated circuit run, correct RCD protection installed, labelled per AS/NZS 3000 Section 2.3. DC charger has integrated DC residual current monitoring on the output side; AC supply requires Type A RCD upstream per AS/NZS 3000. For DC chargers, Schneider’s commissioning app pairs the unit to the back-end management system before energisation.

Step 3: Commissioning, Form 17 and handover

Full insulation resistance, earth continuity and RCD trip test on the new circuit. Live commission with a real EV plugged in to verify session start, energy delivery and session end. Form 17 lodged with the Queensland Electrical Safety Office. As-built drawings, manuals and back-end credentials handed over.

Two mistakes that kill a DC install

Skipping the 3-phase supply derating check

A 24 kW DC DC charger draws serious current on the AC side. Most older Brisbane commercial switchboards in industrial estates around Wynnum, Murarrie and TradeCoast were sized for HVAC and machinery loads, not a continuous EV charging draw. We’ve seen sites quote a DC charger off the showroom floor only to discover the existing main switch and submains can’t sustain the load. Real install means a power quality and capacity study first, then often a switchboard upgrade or Energex application before any charger ships.

Forgetting the Energex connection approval lead time

Anything over about 20 kW of added load typically needs an Energex connection application. That can run 4-12 weeks. If a project goes “install the charger in 2 weeks”, the answer is usually no, unless the supply was already cleared. We lodge the connection paperwork upfront and run it in parallel with the electrical work, so the commissioning date isn’t surprised by a utility queue.

Real install: BMW Motorline Brisbane

Hexar installed the Schneider EV range across the BMW Motorline dealership site in Brisbane, including DC fast chargers like this unit on both wall and pedestal mounts, with switchboard upgrades to handle the added load and Type B RCD protection on every circuit. See the full project gallery →

FAQs

How much does a EVB1A24KCM cost installed in Brisbane?

Guide price from $48,000 inc GST for a straightforward install. Sites needing switchboard upgrades, Energex applications, trenching or multi-charger setups land higher. Hexar confirms cost after a site assessment.

What’s the rated power and connector type on the EVB1A24KCM?

24 kW DC on 3-phase input supply, 400 V AC input, CCS2 (DC fast).

What RCD type does this Schneider EV charger need?

DC charger has integrated DC residual current monitoring on the output side; AC supply requires Type A RCD upstream per AS/NZS 3000. AS/NZS 3000:2018 Section 4.18 is the relevant clause.

How long does a session take on a 24 kW DC DC charger?

Typical session adds 100-200 km of range in 20-30 minutes on a current-model EV with CCS2. Real-world rate depends on vehicle battery state and acceptance rate.

Does Hexar install the full Schneider EV range?

Yes. Hexar installs the full Schneider EV charger range across Brisbane. Our electricians are trained on Schneider EVlink and Charge Pro products. Recent install: BMW Motorline Brisbane, Schneider AC wall units and DC fast chargers across the dealership.

What standards apply to this install in Queensland?

AS/NZS 3000:2018 (Wiring Rules, Section 4.18 specifically for EV charging), AS/NZS 61851 (Electric vehicle conductive charging system), AS/NZS 4777.2 where on-site solar or battery feeds back to the grid. Queensland Electrical Safety Regulation 2013 requires a Form 17 Certificate of Test for the new circuit.
