Case Study: BMW Dealership — 4 Jobs in 3 Months for a Brisbane Auto Retailer

A Brisbane BMW dealership called us in April 2026 for a single workshop power outlet. Three months later we’d done four separate jobs across the site — workshop, customer EV charging, showroom lighting, and an unexpected switchboard upgrade. This is what “recurring customer” actually looks like and what we did to earn the follow-on work.

The challenge

The initial job — a 32A three-phase outlet for a new diagnostic bay — uncovered a switchboard that was already over-utilised, with porcelain fuses still in service on a couple of circuits. We could have just done the outlet and left. Instead we wrote the customer a one-page note on what we’d found and what each remediation would cost. They sat on it for two weeks, then called us back to do all of it.

What we did

  • Job 1: 32A three-phase IP56 outlet for the new diagnostic bay (1 day on site).
  • Job 2: Two Tesla Wall Connectors and one 22kW Wallbox Commander for customer collection bay (3 days).
  • Job 3: Showroom LED lighting conversion (4 days, after-hours).
  • Job 4: Main switchboard upgrade with new RCBOs and removal of porcelain fuses (overnight outage, 1 weekend).
  • Form 17 lodged for each job. Single account manager across all four engagements.

The outcome

The dealership now has us on speed-dial. They saved roughly 15% on the bundled job cost compared to bringing in a different contractor for each piece, and they have one contact who already knows the site. Our average response time on dealership calls is under 90 minutes during business hours because we know the layout.

The stack

  • Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3, 22kW)
  • Wallbox Commander 2 (22kW with screen)
  • Schneider Acti9 RCBO board
  • Philips LED panels and high-bay fittings
  • AS/NZS 3000:2018, AS/NZS 61851, AS 2293 (emergency lighting)

What we’d tell another customer

Tell customers what you find on site even when it’s not what they asked you to look at. The cost is one A4 page; the upside is the next three jobs.
